Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Law Officer (CLO) in handling contract agreements for energy transmission and allied matters from a legal perspective.
- Negotiate, draft, and vet various agreements, deeds, and legal instruments.
- Work with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and generation companies on agreements such as Tripartite PPAs, Direct Agreements, and Security Documents.
- Liaise with external legal counsel for reviewing draft contract terms.
- Ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance of all contract-related deliverables with company policies and procedures.
- Lead and guide subordinate staff in assigned tasks.
- Define and manage KPIs as assigned by the CLO.
- Identify and communicate technology needs of the Contracts Section to CLO and relevant departments.
- Provide professional development opportunities and conduct performance appraisals for staff.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the CLO.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) with at least 8 years of post-qualification experience, including:
- Minimum 3 years in active legal practice
- Minimum 3 years handling corporate and regulatory affairs in a law firm or as in-house counsel in a corporate organization
- Preferred: Master’s degree in Law (LLM) or Barrister-at-Law
- Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant computer applications
- Sector Knowledge: Understanding of laws related to the electricity sector will be an advantage
- Age Limit: Maximum 40 years as of the application closing date
